There are inherent benefits to using the bicycle in the cities that form part of the upward spiral towards saving the planet. The small efficiencies that lead to bigger impact. NUVE covers protect your bicycle which reduces premature wear and tear of components. This means bicycles and their parts, last longer and have less impact on the environment.
Our production processes take sustainability into account from the start. We strive to become as efficient as possible through responsible design. We select partners with shared values particularly in sustainability. This includes sourcing the right materials, understanding the production process and the methods used.
As a result, almost 90% of the raw materials for our covers, components and packaging are made from recycled materials.
Technical fabrics & longevity
We have developed our covers to optimise on performance and durability. Our techniques make the covers as light and desirable as possible, without compromising the strength. We use a combination of technical fabric and non-toxic coatings for quality and performance. The fabric has a pilling resistance, and the coating creates a barrier to resist abrasions, giving the covers longevity.
We use knitted recycled polyester mixed with elastane, as the main material to produce our covers. It’s elasticity creates a second skin when on the bicycle. The breathable fabric protects against rust and corrosion, giving your bicycle longer life.
We’re committed to working towards a circular economy as much as possible. We have produced a product care guide for the cyclist, to ensure the long lasting effects of the cover. This includes ways to repair the cover if it becomes damaged.
We will explore other options for waste materials and find practical uses for used covers that are beyond repair. We will continue to pursue alternative materials and techniques that could improve our positive impact on the planet.
Supply chain
Over 85% of the raw materials and finished goods for our covers are sourced and produced within Italy. This reduces our carbon emissions by keeping production within a 15km radius. The European market has not yet reached a critical mass for producing recycled raw materials so there are a few components that we have had to source from outside of Europe, but it is only a matter of time. We will continue to search for suppliers, to minimise our carbon footprint within the supply chain where possible.
Our distribution partners use eco-friendly, plastic free packaging. They have a courier network that uses electric and hybrid vehicles reducing carbon emissions.
